Gunmen in Anambra kidnap a Catholic priest, police begin a manhunt.Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo, a Catholic priest stationed in Anambra, has been abducted by several as-yet-unidentified gunmen.
A Catholic priest from the Units Archdiocese named Gbuzuo was said to have been abducted while traveling over the Eke Nkpor-Obosi Bypass on Wednesday at around eight in the morning.

The event happened just one month after he was named among the top 10 wealthiest Catholic priests in Nigeria by a publication.
The abductors had not made touch with anyone about the priest, according to a statement released on Thursday by Rev. Fr. Prudentius Aroh, the Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha.

“We entrust the timely release of our brother, Fr. Basil, from the clutches of his kidnappers to the mighty intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests.”
When reached, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, verified the event in a statement.

In response to the tragic occurrence that happened at Nkpor Junction in Onitsha, he declared, “The Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the abductors and possible rescue of Reverend Fr. Basil Chukwuemeka.”
